Casa Panitteri – An Artistic and Unique Stay in Sambuca di Sicilia
After spending a some wonderful days in Menfi, it was time for the final stop on our wine journey with Planeta – Sambuca di Sicilia. This mountain village rises high above the landscape and is considered one of the most authentic villages in all of Sicily. It’s here that Planeta grows and produces their famous Chardonnay.
In the heart of the village, Planeta has restored a beautiful apartment with a truly special and creative design – a space we found both inspiring and fun to experience. The apartment is perfectly located in the middle of the historic center, actually inside a museum, yet the surroundings are calm and quiet.
Sambuca di Sicilia itself was an absolute delight to visit. When you walk through its narrow streets, you immediately notice the influence of Arabic culture – in the architecture, the art, and even in the small details. There are art installations and murals throughout the town, many of them celebrating the Arabian horse – a symbol of strength, beauty, and intelligence.
Sambuca di Sicilia is beautiful and peaceful, perched high in the hills, and we can wholeheartedly recommend visiting this little village. It’s unique and deeply authentic, with only a few thousand inhabitants who greet you with warmth and wide smiles. We loved the three days we spent here.
And when we started missing the sea, it was comforting to know that it was only a 30-minute drive back to the coast – or to Planeta’s Insula Beach Club.
