Donnalucata isn’t just about endless beaches and a charming small-town atmosphere – it’s also home to some truly delightful places to eat and drink. Whether you're looking for a romantic sunset dinner by the sea, authentic Italian gelato, local farm-to-table specialties, or a laid-back aperitivo with your feet in the sand – this guide highlights our favorite spots in Donnalucata.
Jammola – beach, bar & restaurant…
This is the place where everyone gathers for aperitivo, lunch, or dinner. Perfectly located right by the beach, next to the charming little fish market in town, this stylish and relaxed venue radiates a true beach vibe. It's the most popular aperitivo bar in Donnalucata – and for good reason. The atmosphere is one of a kind. In addition, the restaurant serves delicious seafood dishes, available for both lunch and dinner. It quickly became our favorite spot in town.
Retrò Ristorante…
Beautifully located on the seafront promenade, this restaurant offers both seafood and high-quality meat dishes. Treat yourself to dinner at sunset with the sea just steps away. The place is well-loved by both locals and tourists. The owner is a charming guy who welcomes guests with open arms. He even thought we might be celebrities – he sneakily snapped a picture of us and posted it to the restaurant's Instagram. No caption. Just a photo.
Gelateria Blue Moon…
The world’s best gelateria? At the very least, it’s the best in Donnalucata. This is the place where everyone comes for a sweet treat. From early morning to late at night, kids and adults gather for granita, gelato in brioche, or a cooling scoop in the summer heat. Definitely worth a visit.
Tentazioni di zucchero…
Tentazioni di zucchero – Sweet Temptations… This is where locals go to buy their sweets, especially on Sundays. It’s not uncommon to see a queue out the door, with the square outside filled with double-parked cars – sons on a mission to bring desserts to their parents’ Sunday lunch. Inside, you’ll find a charming family bakery. A photo of the owner’s daughter baking her first cake at around age five still hangs on the wall. She might find it a bit embarrassing now – but it’s a lovely, proud moment. Their pastries are fantastic.
Magazzè…
What a cool place. If you want to experience real, flavorful buffalo products like burrata, mozzarella, aged meats, or steak – this is the place. Everything is zero-kilometer: the ingredients come straight from the farm you're on. We ordered antipasti for the whole table – more than enough food, and a great way to sample many of the farm’s products. They also have a small shop where you can buy goodies to take home. Else has always loved mozzarella from Campania, but the Ragusa burrata here gave it serious competition – the best we’ve ever tasted.
Pizzeria Regina Margherita
Authentic and down-to-earth, this little pizzeria mostly does takeaway, but we sat in a couple of times and enjoyed fantastic pizza made with love and tradition. The dough is crafted from wholegrain ancient wheat grown on the owner’s family farm. The pizzaiolo proudly explained how they still follow age-old methods. Simple and unpretentious, with smiling servers and a truly local vibe. And yes – seriously good pizza.
